Engagement objectives

StratComm Consulting was engaged by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) India to document and synthesise the institutionalisation of safeguarding across church-linked institutions under the Safeguarding for Everyone (SaFE) initiative. Implemented with Caritas India from 2022 to 2025, the initiative embedded safeguarding policies and practices across Regional Forums and Diocesan Social Service Societies (DSSSs).

The engagement captured progress, practices, and lessons from the rollout. These insights were translated into a structured knowledge product that documents the approach, highlights good practices, and presents a roadmap to strengthen and scale safeguarding across church institutions in India.

Process

StratComm led end-to-end development of the safeguarding knowledge product. The team consulted CRS, Caritas India, Regional Forums, DSSSs, and church leadership.

The process included documenting implementation experiences, developing case studies, synthesising cross-regional learning, and translating evidence into a clear narrative and visual structure. The final output was accessible, stakeholder-informed, and aligned with CRS safeguarding and branding guidelines.

Key Outcomes

The final document captures the SaFE initiative’s multi-year journey to integrate safeguarding across church institutions in India. It documents the phased rollout, clarifies institutional roles, highlights key implementation lessons, and presents a forward-looking roadmap to embed safeguarding as a sustained organisational practice beyond compliance.
