Working with SHG structures for combatting child marriage
Project Concern International

Project Concern International’s, UMANG project aims to empower members of self-help groups (SHGs) to enable them to support in fulfilment of aspirations of their adolescent daughters while addressing the concern of child marriage.
StratComm collaborated with PCI to use insights from SBCC theory and practice to develop an interactive curriculum and training package for use with SHGs, Village Organisations, and Cluster Level Federations. Keeping the socio ecological model as base, StratComm developed this package and supported Active Women leaders to skilfully facilitate interactions with SHG members in the community, functionaries of the village level organisation as well as cluster level stakeholders. Designed and developed in phases, the module will support interactions over a year in Nala (District Jamtara) and Godda Sadar (District Godda) in Jharkhand where Project Umang partners with the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS).
