Strengthen SEAR response to MHPSS in the context of emergencies

World Health Organisation

Continuing our association with WHO, StratComm is supporting the development of a
multi-product package aimed at strengthening the SEA region’s response to mental health and
psychosocial support (MHPSS) in the context of COVID-19 recovery and future pandemics &
emergencies.

Pandemics and emergencies increase the risk of mental health problems and strain the mental health
infrastructure. The package focuses on strengthening community-based MHPSS through training
manuals, guidance notes, and communication materials for community leaders, frontline workers,
managers of primary health care facilities, etc. At the National level the package provides guidance for
MHPSS integration (based on the regional collaborative framework) . Guidance will aim to build on existing formal and informal systems of care, while also drawing on experiences and lessons learned at global, regional, and country levels.
