Stories of Children’s Clubs Creating Ripples
Urmul Sansthan

What happens when children’s groups in government schools work on engaging with financial education and life skills? How does this impact their engagement and interaction with the world around them? We set out to find some answers in Bikaner along with Urmul Sansthan, Plan and Meljol.
A series of dialogues with the school management, children’s groups and parents had us identifying some patterns on how conversations around savings and enterprise lead to action beyond financial savings. Children were more tuned in to social norms and behaviours which adversely impact them and their peers, they were experimenting, negotiating with methods to make their voice heard and creating small ripples within their communities. Ten such stories were put together, illustrated and designed in the form of a publication - Creating Ripples: Children’s Clubs in Bikaner.
